Although the election doesn’t begin until the writ is drawn, Canadians can donate to our local riding associations anytime in the year.

Donations made to to the federal Kitchener-Centre Electoral District Association now will to help with the EDA’s preparations for the upcoming 2019 Federal Election.  These donations will benefit the Kitchener Centre candidate in the 2019 Federal Election.

Federal Campaign Contributions

As Teresa pointed out at the PreNomination Event, the Canadian government is generous in tax credits Canadians receive when donating to the Green Party of Canada * .

Effective January 1, 2019, Canadians can donate up to $1,600 per year, both to the Green Party of Canada to help with the nation wide campaign, or locally to the Kitchener Centre riding, for a total maximum contribution of $3,200. The maximum possible tax credit remains $650.00

Donations and Tax Credits

between 0 and $400 | 75% refund
between $400 and $750 | $300 plus 50% of the amount over $400
over $750: give you $475 plus 33 1/3 per cent of any amount over $750 up to a maximum of $650 per year

Contribution Limits

Only Canadian citizens or permanent residents can legally make political contributions:

A maximum of $1,600 to each registered political party in each calendar year
A maximum of $1,600 in total to each registered political party’s EDA (Electoral District Association), Nomination Contestant and Candidate campaigns.
A maximum of $1,600 in total between all registered leadership contestants in a particular leadership contest.
